Bob, here. Cindy’s dad. I’ve been put in charge of “stuff.” This is the place you go
to find who knows what and perhaps possible answers to life’s deepest questions
like, “Are Fritos and mayonnaise really that bad for you?” Way I see it, ya gotta have some fun with this healthy living thing. Part of having fun is trying new things. So here you go...
I’m not a big fan of vegetable smoothies. But here is one that got my attention. It’s
a veggie smoothie for people who don’t like veggie smoothies. Give it a try. We all
have to start somewhere. This may help you climb more stairs for next month’s
challenge.
VEGGIE SMOOTHIE
½ CUP COLD WATER
½ RED BELL PEPPER
½ STALK CELERY
½ APPLE, OR A BIT OF FROZEN FRUIT, LIKE 6 GRAPES OR CHERRIES
½ MEDIUM CARROT
GINGER, A THIN SLICE, FRESH OR FROZEN
8 WHOLE ALMONDS
I CUP KALE LEAVES, LOOSELY PACKED (Are you kidding me?)
HANDFUL OF ICE CUBES
Mix well in the blender. Use the juice setting, if you have it.
Recommendation: Take a picture of this right now and, next time you’re at the
market, whip out your cell, look at the pic, and buy the ingredients.
Note: I personally would substitute 1 oz. of brandy for the kale leaves, but that’s
just me.
Next time we talk, we’ll address one of the most difficult things in life we all find
to do. The first one of you guys to come up with the answer that’s in my head gets
a free “Cindy Bland Memorial Foundation” shirt. The second one gets nothing. I
think you can post your response in the “comments.” Cheers!
Answer, yes you can put bacon in your veggie smoothie once a week for a treat.
